Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. Diatomaceous earth consists of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. It is used as a mechanical insecticide. As it is heat-resistant, it can also be used as a thermal insulator.

Diatomite is used as an insecticide, due to its physico-sorptive properties. The fine powder absorbs lipids from the waxy outer layer of insects’, causing them to dehydrate.

It is also used as a growing medium in potted plants, particularly as bonsai soil. Bonsai enthusiasts use it as a soil additive, or pot a bonsai tree in 100% diatomaceous earth. This is because it retains water and nutrients, while draining fast and freely, allowing high oxygen circulation within the growing medium.

Whatever you are growing, and whatever your garden looks like, Pruning, Training, and Tidying will help you to keep your garden beautiful and functional. 90 color illustrations

Ever since the passage of Obama’s health care legislation, America has been marching towards the biggest health care “land mine” this nation has ever seen. The new health care laws combined with a fragile economy and the ongoing threat of terrorist attacks could be the “perfect storm” for massive health care shortages across the U.S. If things don’t change, it won’t be long before we have an inefficient and overburdened health care system like Britain or Canada! But here’s good news: You can make your own healing medicines from plants found in nature. It is like having access to God’s amazing medicine chest! We believe it is critical that you prepare now for the health care shortages that are practically inevitable. That is why we created the Survival Herb Bank, a complete kit for growing your own off-the-grid remedies and survival medicines right in your own backyard.
